Hydrovolts is developing revolutionary
in-stream hydrokinetic turbines that generate renewable energy from
fast-flowing water currents. The turbines are dropped into and
secured in the open channel - it is not necessary to divert the flow or
construct new channels. The turbines produce 1 to 5 kW each depending on
the current velocity. They can be scaled up or down and deployed
in groups to make more power.
The market is customers
who need affordable distributed renewable energy and who have water
flows of at least 2 meters/second and 2 square meters in area.
These include engineers of irrigation districts, flood control and dam
projects, shipping canals and locks and other constructed waterways.
There are millions of such customers around the world. Some customers with access to large fast rivers and tidal
channels will be able to generate utility-scale renewable energy with
Hydrovolts technology. Remote communities and households can make
power with our technology from nearby streams. In developing
countries Hydrovolts technology will provide power to underserved
communities.
The technology is new in-stream turbines that
can be simply dropped into place in the water current and anchored in
the flow to make 1 to 5 kW of power, enough for 1 to 3 average
American homes. They fit in a shipping container and are easily
transported and deployed with small boats. No heavy construction
or channel modification is needed and the turbines can be simply removed
for maintenance as needed. The turbines are revolutionary - they
are more efficient than any competing design, they are modular, scalable
and inexpensive to make.
The distribution channel is existing
distributors of small-scale solar, wind and micro-hydropower systems.
They are now found around the world and are quite organized
